Terms & Conditions →The Shearwater Nerd 2 Monitor AK is the variant of the first near-eye remote display for diving, built for rebreathers fitted with a 4-pin analog connector. Positioned within the diver's line of sight, it delivers the dive's vital information at a glance, without pulling attention away from the loop or the surroundings. Designed around analog rebreather electronics, this monitor slots into an existing instrument chain while bringing the readability and reliability of the Nerd 2 platform.
The combination of a micro LCD display and a magnifying lens produces an image perceived as a large screen viewed from a distance, while the unit itself sits only centimetres from the eye. The screen offers a 320x240 resolution in QVGA mode, contrasted enough to stay legible in dark water as well as in bright light. This optical ergonomics is the Nerd 2 signature: information stays permanently available along the line of sight.
The monitor carries an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery of roughly 1,3 Wh, delivering 18 hours of runtime at medium brightness. Charging is done through the dedicated cable and charging clip supplied. Over the life of the unit, the battery is rated for replacement after about 5 years or 500 charge cycles, supporting durable use across many seasons.
The Nerd 2 AK manages up to 5 open-circuit gases and 5 closed-circuit gases, covering the most demanding technical diving protocols. It runs the Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm with gradient factors, a technical-diving reference, for precise stop calculation on multi-mix dives.
Built for depth, the monitor carries a rated depth of 300 m. The dive log records up to 1 000 hours of data, available for post-dive analysis. Its 4-pin rebreather connectivity makes it the variant dedicated to analog loops, while the supplied CCR mount fits the rebreather loop diameter range listed in the technical specifications.
Compact, the monitor carries a weight of 313 g, a small footprint that eases integration into the line of sight without hampering the rebreather diver's movements. Its precise dimensions are listed in the technical specifications.
The package includes the Nerd 2 Monitor computer (4-pin), a CCR mounting kit, an inspection control card, a product information guide, a screen protector, a charging clip and a charging cable.
The Nerd 2 is designed and built in Canada by Shearwater Research, a manufacturer specialising in technical and rebreather diving instrumentation. Manufacturer reference: SH12516.
