MIFLEX has spent years developing braided diving hoses that outperform traditional rubber in flexibility, longevity and safety. The Xtreme range LP regulator hose in orange delivers a low-pressure connection between the first stage and the second stage of any regulator fitted with a standard 3/8" UNF LP port. Orange has long been adopted internationally as the colour code for an octopus secondary regulator, making this hose a natural choice when rigging a bailout second stage in technical or overhead environments — from Red Sea wrecks to UK cavern sites.

Technical Specifications

  • Thread: 3/8" UNF Male (LP port of 1st stage) × 9/16" UNF Female (2nd stage inlet)
  • Construction: multi-layer braided jacket (nylon + PET + polyurethane) over a polyether-based TPU core
  • Nominal bore: DN6
  • End fittings: chromated brass or stainless steel sleeves (crimped, not glued)
  • MIFLEX catalogue code: SUB 917.xxxx series (last four digits = length in mm)

CE EN 250 Certified Performance

  • Working pressure: 35 bar
  • Burst pressure: 150–250 bar — more than twice the burst threshold of conventional rubber hoses
  • Certification: CE EN 250 (open-circuit self-contained diving equipment)
  • Nitrox and oxygen-enriched gas compatible up to 40 % O₂ — factory oxygen-cleaned
  • 30 individual safety and quality tests performed on every single hose at the factory

Available Lengths

The Xtreme orange regulator hose is available in nine lengths selectable from the dropdown menu: 56 cm (22"), 60 cm (24"), 75 cm (30"), 81 cm (32"), 90 cm (36"), 100 cm (40"), 120 cm (47"), 150 cm (60") and 210 cm (84"). Other Xtreme colours (blue, red, green, yellow, black) are listed as separate products on Proteushop.

Choosing the Right Length

  • 56–60 cm: compact rigs, small-framed divers or minimalist setups
  • 75–90 cm: standard single-cylinder back-mount — the most common recreational choice
  • 100–120 cm: twinset, sidemount, technical configurations requiring greater hose freedom
  • 150–210 cm: DIR/cave long-hose primary second stage, rebreather long-loop connection

Applications

Low-pressure connection between a regulator first stage LP port and any second stage breathing unit, whether primary or backup (octopus). Fits the vast majority of first stages using the industry-standard 3/8" UNF LP port. Suitable for use with semi-closed and closed-circuit rebreathers wherever a 3/8"×9/16" UNF low-pressure connection is required. The factory Nitrox cleaning means no additional preparation is needed before use with enriched air nitrox mixes, saving setup time before liveaboard or shore-dive operations in locations such as the Red Sea, Canary Islands or any site where Nitrox cylinders are standard.

Key Strengths

  • Double UV-resistant braiding: service life up to three times longer than rubber alternatives — a significant advantage for divers who store gear in bright conditions or on sunny liveaboard decks
  • Kink-proof construction: the hose maintains full airflow even when bent to an extreme angle or tied into a loose knot — critical in confined technical environments where hose management is tight
  • International orange octopus standard: instantly recognisable as the bailout second stage without verbal communication, consistent with BSAC and PADI training conventions
  • Native Nitrox compatibility: no third-party oxygen cleaning needed, reducing pre-dive preparation and ensuring regulatory compliance on Nitrox operations
  • Individual production testing: each hose undergoes over 30 in-line safety checks before leaving the factory, providing documented EN 250 compliance at unit level

Certification and Guarantee

Certified to CE EN 250 (European standard for open-circuit self-contained diving apparatus). Each unit passes more than 30 individual factory checks before dispatch. Manufacturer's warranty applies according to MIFLEX standard terms. For replacement intervals, follow the guidance issued by your regulator manufacturer and refer to recognised training agency technical bulletins on hose maintenance.
