Terms & Conditions →Founded in Verona in 2012 by experienced divers, DTEK builds made-to-measure drysuits in their Italian workshop. The TEK range already ships with Kevlar inserts on the armpits, elbows and pre-formed knees — high-wear zones identified through years of field testing. The seat zone, however, is not included in those standard panels. Wreck penetration, cave diving on limestone floors, rocky shore entries and sitting on gunwales and ladders all abrade the seat area of a drysuit in ways that accelerate fabric degradation. This order-time upgrade integrates a Kevlar panel directly into the seat zone during manufacture, providing durable protection from day one without any post-production patchwork.
This reinforcement is aimed at technical divers who regularly encounter abrasive contact at the seat zone. Wreck diving exposes the suit to corroded steel edges, rivet heads and jagged frame members during both penetration and exit. Cave diving on submerged rock presents continuous abrasion on calcareous or basalt substrates during transitions and resting positions. Boat diving at sites such as Scapa Flow or Atlantic wreck fields means repeated contact with gunwales, swim platforms and ladders where underpants-level fabric degrades fastest. Shore entries on rocky coastlines involve sitting, sliding and kneeling on rough surfaces before entering the water. The Kevlar panel withstands these repeated mechanical contacts, extending the service life of the drysuit at the point of greatest vulnerability.
DTEK has manufactured custom drysuits in Verona since 2012 to consistent technical standards. This Kevlar seat protection panel is integrated during the construction of the accompanying DTEK drysuit and is covered by the manufacturer's warranty applicable to that suit. Full customisation options and ordering details are available via the official DTEK website (dtekshop.it).
